5 Dollar Lazy Boy Anyone?

June 16, 2007

So Jen and I went to Belleville today to pick up our futon. We bought it yesterday at liquadtion world, 80% off!! love that kind of deal.

Well after we picked it up, we were driving to the other side of town to go to another store, and we drove right past a store a friend was telling us about, a grat thrift shop, that apparently usually has some great stuff.

So we decided to go in, because I’ve been looking for a nice recliner lately, but havent really found anything that we could afford. So we’re walking through, and came the the furniture section of the store, and guess what was right there, a nice lazy boy, and how much was it, 5 bucks, thats right. So we took it home, it was a little nasty looking, needed a serious cleaning, which Jen did, and look below you will see my GREAT 5 dollar lazy boy.

Cleaning My Links Up

May 23, 2007

I’m doing some house keeping… or site keeping if you will. I’m going to go through my list of blogs on here and if there hasn’t been any updates in a couple of months, I’m removing the link, unless you comment here and ask me to keep it on.

Auto Pilot Car

April 2, 2007

Ever since I saw the movie Demolition Man (circa 1993) I’ve thought how cool it would be to own an auto pilot car, and thought to myself many times while driving down the busy 401 “man I wish I could just sit here”

Well according to GM I won’t have to wait much longer!

GM to Launch Auto Pilot, of Sorts, on 2008 Opel Vectra

GM announced it will offer a self-driving system on the 2008 Opel Vectra. The system will use a camera, laser beams, heavy-duty computer algorithms and a small, green Martian named Kazoo (holla Flinstones!) to pilot the car at up to 60 mph in rush-hour traffic, while the driver reads a copy of Der Spiegel and munches on a fresh Krueller.

Of course, liability would prohibit GM from implying the system is safe enough for such leisure, but it will be able to modulate acceleration engine, steering and braking in response to input gleaned from road signs, curves, other vehicles, misplaced jump ramps, beer cans, deer, beer trucks and lane markings. Liability issues may also limit the system’s rollout in the US, though GM plans to include it on its next-generation Epsilon-platform cars, including Saab 9-3, Cadillac BLS and Saturn Aura.

How cool is this. First there was the Lexus LS 460L which could parallel park itself

And now we will have a car that drives itself, I’m sure it will only be a matter of time before this is standard on all cars, then the next thing must be the hover car that we see in the “futuristic movies” that would certainly cut down on gas costs!
